Students Introduced to the World of Consultancy and Auditing During University of Bahrain's Career Day    2 May 2002
Senior staff from Jawad Habib & Co., the largest national professional services company in Bahrain and a member firm of BDO International, introduced students to the world of auditing and consultancy professions during the University of Bahrain's Annual Career Day, held on the 28th - 30th of April 2002. Jassim Abdul Aal, Jawad Habib & Co. partner, and Tim Young, Jawad Habib & Co. senior manager, highlighted the roles of each of the professions and provided valuable insights into the responsibilities and benefits of the two industries. The event was attended by hundreds of students from the University of Bahrain as well as other students from Bahrain schools.

In his presentation, titled 'Career as an Auditor,' Abdul Aal emphasised the windows of opportunity available through obtaining international professional qualifications such as those given by the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA).

Abdul Aal stressed the importance of developing employees. "Employees are the most valued resource for any organization, and by a strong and structured development program, a company can provide an even higher professional service to its clients. Our aim is to help our employees realize their full potential," said Abdul Aal.

The Platinum award is the ACCA's top award and is given in recognition of firms whose training commitment to staff is of the very highest international standards.

To develop further training of accountants in Bahrain, Jawad Habib & Co will be opening a accountancy training college in the near future and also holds an annual summer internship program for Bahrainis.

Young, who is a physics graduate with extensive consultancy experience in the banking and technology industries, gave a presentation entitled: "Could you be a management Consultant?"

He emphasised the fact that any graduate, irrespective of his academic field, could be a consultant if he has an analytical and curious mind. Young described the consultant as unique and dynamic, with the ability to solve problems through innovative ideas, and to carry the responsibility of ever-changing projects.

"Consultants play a major role in the success of any company. When working in a highly rated professional services firm such as Jawad Habib & Co, a consultant can work in any industry, be it banking, government, oil and gas, or any other major industry," he said. "The consultants responsibilities can include anything from market research, financial modelling, market bench marking to organisational and strategic review.

Young recently gave a speech at the Internal Federation of Training and Development (IFTDO), the world's largest human resource event, on the challenges of nationalizing the local workforce and demonstrated possible solutions that would maintain high performance levels.
